Der XP Codec Pack enthält alle aktuell gängigen Codes um Sound- und Videodateien auf Ihrem Rechner abspielen zu können. Ebenfalls im Paket enthalten, ist der Media Player Classic, ein Player der so gut wie alle Formate von Multimediadateien wiedergeben kann. Zusätzlich findet sich noch der Codec Detectiv im Paket, mit dessen Hilfe Sie Ihr System prüfen können und alle gefundenen Codes mit einer detaillierten Auflistung angezeigt bekommen. Bei der Installation kann man festlegen, welche Codecs ins System integriert werden sollen.
