Mit Windows XP lässt sich ein Software-Raid 5 erstellen. Allerdings müssen dazu ein paar Modifikationen angewandt werden.

Die Daten werden dann nach dem Reißverschlussprinzip auf die sich im RAID-Verbund befindlichen Platten verteilt.

Bei einem Test durch „Tom’s Hardware Guide“ lief das RAID System ohne Komplikationen und stellte sich auch nach einem simulierten Ausfall einer Platte wieder her.
